Sandra Villarreal was born and raised in the Lower Yakima Valley. As a first generation
student, she started her education at Yakima Valley Community College and later, transferred
to Washington State University to earn her Bachelors’ in Communication. Sandra worked
in the community before pursuing a Master’s degree in Communications at St. Mary’s
University in San Antonio, Texas. In Texas, Sandra worked for Communities in Schools,
GEAR UP and Upward Bound programs. She has several years of professional experience
working with students as an advisor, mentor, advocate, case manager and now as the
Director for WVC TRIO SSS program. Sandra believes education can help individuals
create the life they want, and she is excited to help support our scholars as they
pursue their educational aspirations.

Jenna Floyd was raised in Enumclaw Washington. As a first-generation student from
a low-income background, she earned an AAS-DTA from Green River College, transferred to the University of Washington
where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and later completed graduate coursework in Experimental Psychology at Central Washington University.
Jenna has taught Introductory Psychology and assisted with various college-level research-orientated
Psychology courses (research methods, statistics, Industrial/Organizational, etc.).
In addition to a background in research, she has a background working in Student/Campus
Life, student mentoring, and has administrative history in business and higher education.
Her areas of expertise include: academic advising, transfer assistance, financial aid assistance, student mentoring,
and student development.

Dania Contreras was born in Mexico then at the age of six she and her family came
to Washington. Since then, she has been raised here in Wenatchee. As a first-generation
student from a low-income background, she started her college journey here at Wenatchee
Valley College (WVC). She graduated WVC with an AAS-DTA and transferred to Eastern
Washington University (EWU). At EWU she is working online to complete her Bachelors’
Degree in Communications with a minor is Psychology. Dania was also a member of TRIO
here at WVC and was grateful to have the resources TRIO provided her to transfer to
a 4-year university. She is excited to reciprocate the support TRIO offered her to
our current/new TRIO students.
Her areas of expertise include: managing the lending library, student mentoring, assisting students with applying
to TRIO, and administrative support.

TRIO SSS Tutor(s)
We are currently hiring tutors for the 2022-2023 academic year! This is a paid position. You can read the position description here or download a copy of our tutor application.

you work through the next steps to complete a WVC employment application and connect
with the work study office.
Not eligible for work study? That's okay. While we give priority to students who are eligible for work study, it

TRIO SSS Transfer Mentors
The Transfer Mentor Program is designed for students who want to help, encourage,
support, and guide TRIO SSS participants at WVC through the process of applying to
and successfully transferring to a four-year institution. Transfer mentors play a
vital role in facilitating the adjustment of new transfer students to a four-year
institution. Learn more about the position below or by viewing the description included
with the application.
Who is Eligible? Students who are currently enrolled at a four-year college/university. If you are
a current WVC student who is interested in BEING mentored, please reach out to our
TRIO SSS staff.
If you are interested in becoming a transfer mentor, you may submit your application
materials in a number of ways. You may complete an online version below or by following
this link. Alternatively, you may download a PDF of the application and email it to trio@wvc.edu.
